Being that some of the world-famed artists are of French descent, Paris holds one of the largest museums to view such great artworks. The Le Louvre Museum in Paris, France is pristine to hold the famous painting ‘The Mona Lisa’ which it has exhibited since 1797. The museum has continued to lure art fans and visitors with this masterpiece, among other artworks in its collection. The museum’s collection includes Vincent Van Gogh’s Self Portrait, Impression, Sunrise by Claude Monet, Still Life with Lobster (1827) by Eugene Delacroix, Jacques Louis David: The Coronation of Napoleon, among a few more great masterpieces. The museum has a collection of up to 380,000 works of art.
The Art Institute of Chicago (AIC) is renowned the world over for having a collection of popular paintings. The institute holds one of the three versions of Vincent Van Gogh’s painting, The Bedroom. You can also view the acclaimed Claude Monet’s Water Lilies series which entails more than 250 oil paintings of scenes outside his French home. AIC exhibits the American Gothic by Grant Wood and Nighthawks by Edward Hopper, among other paintings. You can view more than 300,000 works of art there.
National Gallery of Art
With paintings dating back to the Renaissance, the National Gallery of Art in is one of the best places to take a look at masterpieces. The art gallery, located in Washington D.C has a wide range of art in their collection. These are mainly European and American sculptures, paintings and even photographs, having the hugest body of artwork with more than 100,000 artworks exhibited. One of the famous pieces there is Claude Monet’s The Artist’s Garden at Vetheuil, Roses by Vincent Van Gogh, Adoration of the Magi by Sandro Botticelli, and The Mill by Rembrandt Van Rijn.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art
Commonly referred to as ‘The Met,’ it is one of the most popular art museums worldwide. It holds famous paintings including Madonna and Child by Duccio, Bain a la Grenouillere by Claude Monet, Death of the Socrates by Jacques Louis David, among other famous paintings.
